Be A Better Listener

A great podcast can inform and inspire the listener. Very often a great episode can spur you into action. Follow these tips to get the most from your listening experience.

Be Prepared

Be ready to take notes on the go. A great podcast has a way of urging you to take action. If you hear something you may want to refer to later take a screenshot of the episode. Email the screenshot to yourself with a quick note about content. In addition, reference that in the subject line.

Check the Show Notes

If you loved the episode check the show notes for additional details and links. Many podcasters spend copious amounts of time on creating detailed notes for their listeners. If you enjoyed the episode go to the website and look for more information.

Contact the Show Host

Yes! Like the show, leave a review, and email the show host with your thoughts. Podcasters love to hear from their audience. Let them know how your their podcast inspired you to take action.

The Aging Expert Podcast

This December I’ll be recording the first season of Empowered in Aging (EIA). EIA is the podcast for individuals working with older adults. The first series is focused on how to use social media to reach your clients and build your programs.

About the Author

Judi Bonilla is the author of Freewheeling after Sixty and Director of Program Innovation at Advocates For Aging. She is the first gerontologist selected to speak at South by Southwest. In addition, she presented at the American Society on Aging and Certified Senior Advisors conferences. Previously she was a fellow for Hispanic In Philanthropy and Senior Service America, Inc. Most recently she received a Special Commendation from the City of San Diego for launching Older Driver Awareness Week.
